Nights at the Museum,
Without Going Anywhere

New Site Features Video Content
Produced By Various Arts Institutions

ArtBabble, a new site that went public this week, could very well become an online mecca for those interested in the visual arts. At least that’s what its creator, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, would like to see happen, as would its various partners—institutions ranging from The New York Public Library to MoMA and Art21.

ArtBabble.org certainly has the potential to blossom into the must-visit hub of art video content—thanks to several factors, evident from the outset: a clean design; high-definition, high-quality videos; broad appeal (not just for the “in-crowd”); and an innovative component accompanying each video (called “notes”) that makes for a fuller, richer user-experience.

Of course, only in its infancy, there’s much room for growth—from increasing the number of partnerships (perhaps not only with arts institutions, but other media and individuals as well) to adding more videos (perhaps expanding the focus beyond visual arts to include other worthy disciplines).

Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty to take in at this virtual art museum of sorts—artist interviews and profiles, discussions with curators, behind-the-scenes footage, exhibition installations, video quotes, peeks at the creative process in progress, entertaining TV-like series (like “Design by the Book”), and much more—and definitely deserving of repeated visits.
